Help improve Westminster Park

Please could you consider supporting the Friends of Westminster Park with their exciting Spacehive funding application to redevelop the terrace area around the café in Westminster Park.

The proposals will deliver new surfacing, lighting, planting and seating for the benefit of all park users so we can make this a great social hub for the whole community.

The project needs to raise at least 25% of the project costs via local people and businesses to make it happen.

Please give generously to support this worthy cause.

Kindness on Curzon Park

Someone on Curzon Park North was delighted to receive some flowers from Peter (age 6) as a “random act of kindness”.

We wanted to share the pictures with you.

We hope that the photographs and the kind act brighten your day, as they have done for the lucky resident to receive the flowers.

Wool donations

Hand Made for Dementia make Cannular Distraction Sleeves that are donated to hospitals all over the country. One of our residents donates the sleeves she makes to the Countess of Chester and Wrexham Maelor hospitals.

The sleeves are used to distract a patient with dementia from pulling a cannular needle out of their arm. The sleeves are popular with the nurses, saving them time and the patient distress by not having to reinsert the cannular multiple times.

Here are some of the sleeves:

And here is just some of the wool donations received from residents. Thank you!

Spring Photographs 2024

The daffodil bulbs we planted a few months ago are already making an impressive display around Curzon Park.

For the first time, we also planted a number of snowdrops, and these can be seen on The Green, Northway and Curzon Park North.

A big Thank You for your generous donations and another big Thank You to all those ‘Planters, young and old’ who took part.

We want to build on the success of bulb planting year-on-year and we welcome your suggestions and as to where you would like to see them planted.

See below for a photograph taken on 3 March, a particularly bright sunny day here on Curzon Park, together with a selection taken recently by our residents.

Annual General Meeting 20 July 2023

Our next AGM will be on 20 July at 7pm at Chester Golf Club.

We hope you can come along. Drinks will be available from 640pm.

The agenda will be as follows:

  1. Welcome and introductions
  2. Acceptance of the minutes from last year’s AGM
  3. Report on the Association’s Activities
  4. Presentation of the accounts
  5. Election of new members
  6. Closing remarks

The minutes from last year are on the minutes page of the website here https://cpraonline.org/cpra-agm-minutes/

Printed copies will also be available on the evening.

As you will have seen from the last newsletter this year we need to find a new Treasurer as Dave Watson’s three year term is coming to an end. Without a treasurer CPRA won’t be able to function so we do hope that some people are willing to step forward. We also need to fill the role of Membership Secretary as Dave Plunkett’s term has also ended.

If you are interested in either of these roles please get in touch at chairman@cpraonline.org

A big focus of this year’s AGM will be around our social events so we hope many of you are able to come along and get involved in the discussion.
